Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to bring to the training?
For the training, you need a basketball outfit, indoor shoes (when we train indoors), water, and a positive attitude.
OrangeBallAcademy provides the balls, so students can bring their own ball but it is not necessary.
Will I receive an invoice?
Of course. OrangeBallAcademy is a registered company that provides payment receipts to its clients.
How can I pay?
I use a simple method of sending a payment request (e.g., Tikkie or directly from the bank app).
The payment request is sent via a message, such as on WhatsApp.
Do I have to pay for the whole course, or can I book single sessions?
Yes, you have to pay upfront for all lessons (5 or 10). This helps to reserve the training venue and also ensures the student commits to attending the sessions, as the cost of unused sessions is non-refundable.
What is the cost?
€75 for a training session in the gym.
€50 for a training session on outdoor courts.
For group training, the cost is, of course, divided among the participants.
Are discounts available?
Yes, if you choose a course of 10 sessions, you’ll receive a 10% discount.
And what about with trial lesson/first meeting?
The first meeting is free of charge.
Can I cancel the course during its duration? Will I get a refund of the costs?
You are a free person and have the right to do whatever you want, as long as you don't violate the rights of others.
However, we do not offer refunds if a student decides to cancel the course during its duration.
Is it worth it?
Are you asking me? 😊 Well, in my opinion, it’s definitely worth it. In this type of training, you learn much more than in regular club sessions with large groups. Then there’s the club situation to consider – in lower leagues, there isn’t as much pressure to perform, and coaches are often volunteers. On the other hand, in top-tier clubs, the focus is on results, which significantly reduces the time spent on individual player development in favor of team tactics for the next game. Another reason why you can learn more during training sessions at the academy compared to regular training is that here you train (when we work in the group) alongside people who are just as motivated as you are (and sometimes even more). And keep in mind that what you learn here will stay with you in your basketball portfolio forever, and you'll be able to use those skills as long as you're involved in basketball.
It is worth it.
How long does a single training session last?
A single training session in the gym lasts about 1 hour,
while a single training session on outdoor courts lasts "at least" 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Will the things I learn at OrangeBallAcademy conflict with what my club coaches are teaching me?
I have immense respect and admiration for all coaches worldwide for their dedication and effort in developing players within their teams. That’s why I focus on teaching universal skills—things that will be useful on any basketball court and won’t "interfere" with your coach’s plans (unless it’s for the opposing team! 😊). I don’t try to implement specific commands or team defensive or offensive setups, as those are tailored individually by each coach to suit their specific team.
How much will I learn during the course?
The sky is the limit!
But seriously, how much you will learn from the course largely depends on you rather than me – on your commitment, the effort you put in, and your understanding of the concepts.
How many people will be in my group? What level will they represent?
The number of people in each group depends on how many sign up, but I prefer max 4.
I also try to group people with similar basketball skills and motivation levels.
Why only a maximum of 4 people?
In my opinion, that's the maximum number of people for it to still be considered personal training,
while being enough to work on situations like "pick and roll."
What happens if I get injured during training? Will I receive compensation from OrangeBallAcademy?
Answer to the first question: Of course, we will assist you as much as possible.
We will provide ice, stop any minor bleeding, help you to your car, call the cops, etc.
Answer to the second question: If you get injured during training, OrangeBallAcademy does not provide compensation. As an adult participant, you are responsible for your own health and safety, which you confirm by signing the agreement to join the training. We recommend that you have health insurance that covers any possible injuries and that you are in good physical condition to start training. Minors can participate in the training with the consent of their parents or legal guardians..
Why is all of this in English? After all, OrangeBallAcademy is based in the Netherlands!
Yes.
So, the classes are also in English?
Yes.
